We are small hobby kennel. We enjoy training our dogs for obedience, water and draft work. Tom enjoys showing our dogs in the breed and obedience rings and the newfoundlands in draft work. Joan enjoys showing our dogs in obedience and the newfoundlands in water work. We breed occasionally for our own wants. We do have puppies available occasionally to qualified homes. Ours dogs are health checked before breeding.

RHODO 12 WEEKS PUPS 034.JPG

Our Newfoundland’s are our companions, our pride and joy. It’s very difficult to go on a vacation without at least taking two, unless we vacation over seas. We exhibit in confirmation and working events, both in the United States and in Canada. We will always keep Temperament, Health and Working abilities a priority. We are not a kennel, our dogs are our kids. They are part of our daily life and are our life!

Whether it is in the show ring, competing in obedience, training for water rescue or working with draft carts and sleds, our Newfoundlands posses all the qualities attributed to this breed. Our Newfoundlands are raised in a loving family environment with acres of fenced in woodlands to play. Our Newfoundlands are a part of our family and as a family we participate in their obedience and conformation classes as well as many other events.

Dogs have been a part of our family forever.  We spend most weekends and all vacations, engaged in some activity involving the dogs. Now our family has grown to include four Newfs and we are actively engaged in all working dog activities and conformation.  Our circle of friends is comprised of other Newf families and we enjoy exchanging stories in between training for working dog titles and just to have fun.  We have a tremendous bond with our dogs.  It is a deep partnership which we treasure immensely.  Nothing else seems to matter when we are working with the Newfs!

Our foundation stock has predominantly been Mooncusser and Pouch Cove lines. We enjoy answering all of your inquiries, and are available to have you visit our kennels if ever you’re just debating between a Newfie and another breed.

Peggy and Dave Helming acquired their first Newfoundland in 1965 and began their breeding program in 1968 under the kennel prefix Pouch Cove. They have bred and/or owned approximately 275 champions, including many National Specialty winners, Working Group winners and Best in Show winners in the USA and also around the world. Their dogs have also excelled in Obedience trials and in NCA sanctioned working events.  Fourteen have earned their NCA Versatility titles obtaining AKC Championship, NCA Water Rescue and NCA Draft Dog titles.  Peggy and Dave were recognized as the 2003 AKC Working Dog Breeders of the Year given their many accomplishments with the Pouch Cove breeding program.

Our names are Janet and Jerry Cohen. From our first litter in 1998 we kept a puppy we called Jordan (Ch. Goldcoast¹s here comes Mr. Jordan) Jordan is a four time best in show winner. The records he holds are: He is the fifth most winning Newf of breed wins of all time, and holds the record of 5 straight years in the top twenty. In your search for a puppy or older dog, it is not only important to know who has puppies available but the relationship with breeder is as important as the puppy itself.

Steve and Dejah Petsch acquired their first Newfoundland in 1994.  Their admiration and love for the Newfoundland breed has turned into a virtual obsession, leading to interests in breeding, conformation, water work, draft work and all other activities Newfoundlands take part in.  Steve and Dejah are members of the Newfoundland Club of New England (NCNE), the Newfoundland Club of America (NCA) and are associate members of the Portuguese Water Dog Club of America.
